Virgin Unite

Virgin Unite
Virgin Unite is the independent charitable arm of Virgin. It utilises the resources of the Virgin Group to drive entrepreneurial approaches to social and environmental issues worldwide.
Virgin Unite focuses on three core areas:

  1. Good Investments – encouraging our businesses around the world to look at profitable ventures that will drive positive social and environmental change.
  2. Unleashing Entrepreneurs – support for social businesses and other entrepreneurial approaches.
  3. Connecting People – programmes to connect our staff, customers and the general public to the best social entrepreneurs.

Working with the Virgin businesses and on-the-ground partners, Virgin Unite are developing a portfolio of social businesses. For example The Bhubezi Health Clinic in South Africa provides the local community with basic health care services including free diagnosis and treatment for HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria. Another project, The Music Movement, is creating a community of musicians who are using their standing to help tackle tough social issues. Natalie Imbruglia is just one popular figure who has already undertaken inspirational work with UNFPA and The Campaign to End Fistula.

UN Foundation

UN Foundation
The United Nations Foundation has supported Entrepreneurs Unite since its inception. The UN Foundation was created in 1998 with entrepreneur and philanthropist Ted Turner's historic $1 billion gift to support UN causes and activities. The UN Foundation builds and implements public-private partnerships to address the world's most pressing problems, and also works to broaden support for the UN through advocacy and public outreach.

Enablis

Enablis
The Enablis Entrepreneurial Network was established in 2004 as a result of the G8 Digital Opportunity Task Force which pledged to help bridge the socio-economic divide in Africa through the intelligent use of technology. Enablis focuses on driving social and economic development by providing entrepreneurs in the developing world with the appropriate tools to improve their chances of success. It works with early-stage entrepreneurs, particularly those who embrace technology as an enabler of growth, and provides a unique blend of coaching, mentoring, networking, trading and financing. The strength of Enablis lies in its member-driven network. Enablis South Africa has created a network that allows member entrepreneurs to build sustainable enterprises by providing them with the necessary training, skills, funding and networking opportunities. The Enablis approach of creating networks within cities, between cities, within countries, and across country boundaries has opened up new markets to entrepreneurs and their businesses.
